The good news is that you don't have to walk all 10,000 steps at once. It's easy add steps to your day - and you can make it fun.
- Walk your dog
- Window shop
- Run errands on foot
- Walk over to visit a neighbor
- Take a walk with your spouse
- Chase your kids around the lawn
- Walk in different places: a park, by the water, in a new neighborhood
- Start a walking club with friends or co-worker
My favorite way to take a walk? Pushing my two-year-old daughter in her stroller around our neighborhood. We get to spend time together, and I burn extra calories pushing her along!
Walking with my family is what I like to do too. It's good for all ages. Just the other day. I asked my teen daughter to a jog/walk with me. We had a great time talking and challenging each other to go further and faster.
ReplyDeleteI can't wait to get out and start walking. The WalkingWorks program looks like something that will help me mix up my routine so that I won't get bored.
Since January I have been going to the gym and working out. Eating healthy and exercising for 45 minutes, 5-times a week, I've managed to drop 21 lbs. I'm hoping that I can lose another 20 lbs. by August. I'm going to try WalkingWorks. I'll keep you posted.
